i haven't seen it either but from little snippets I've seen on twitter it's not really that much of an upgrade from the bluray version.

the bluray version suffered from being way too bright, the miniature shots were meant to be really dark to conceal detail and make it seem larger, but right now the value range is extremely flat and ugly so most of the film looks pretty bad.

Then there's also the really ugly earth-y tone to everything, due to them not fixing the color grading after scanning the negative, basicaly all film degrades at one point and from the get go you're working with a faded negative that turned pink, all restoration software has an option to de-pink the negative but it doesn't give you accurate colors, the picture will look very GREEN.

And pretty much all re-releases by Toho have this muddy green look to them with very flat values, and not just the Godzilla films, other releases like Submersion of Japan suffer.

Toho is notorious for resisting against releasing their films properly restored, and it's especially bad because as I said before, I did make my own version because I was excited for it, I've spread out the value range so the film's darker like it was intended to be, and with literally a little slider I reduced the green tones and that didn't take any longer than a couple hours. Toho probably gave the people restoring the film literally 10 minutes to do it.
